My name is Edmund Nonaca, a local Edmonds, WA artist. My formal training in art started in the early 70s at the Cerritos College Norwalk, CA Art Department, where I was introduced to woodworking, jewelry, metalsmith, arts & craft, and ceramics. Formal training gave me an initial appreciation of artistic design, form & function, and the skills for creating art using earth-borne materials such as wood, textiles, leather, metals, rocks & minerals into art pieces. I participated in the Jewelry and Metalsmithing Program at California State University, Long Beach, where I received my BA in Art. I also received my Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Chapman University.
I am trained in techniques such as Lost Wax Casting, Repoussé’, and Forging, which I continue to employ in my jewelry artwork today. I am also skilled in cutting, shaping, and polishing cabochons I use in my jewelry.
In 2009 my wife and I relocated to the Pacific Northwest, Seattle region, to a small town called Edmonds, WA. We selected Edmonds for its rich “arts” culture and access to art resources that inspired and encouraged me to be creative.
I have full vertical control of my jewelry by cutting, shaping, polishing my rocks and gems and fitting stones using lost wax or forged metal processes.
